Value of the Month: Perseverance

Date Posted: Wednesday 08 July 2026

At ABQ Education Group, we believe that success is not defined by talent alone, but by resilience, effort, and the determination to keep going even when things become difficult. This month, we focus on the empowering value of Perseverance—a quality that transforms challenges into opportunities and dreams into achievements.

Perseverance helps students build character, develop confidence, and understand that progress comes from sustained effort over time.

What Does Perseverance Mean at ABQ?

Perseverance is a commitment to doing your best, staying focused, and continually improving. For us, it includes four key promises:

  • Developing a strong work ethic

Students strive to give their best effort, aim for the highest quality in their work, and collaborate with others so that everyone benefits and grows together.

  • Being diligent and maintaining continuous effort

Perseverance means showing up day after day, staying engaged, and completing tasks with care—even when the work is challenging or time-consuming.

  • Never giving up

Students learn to approach difficulties with a growth mindset: mistakes are lessons, setbacks are temporary, and challenges are stepping stones to mastery.

  • Being punctual and responsible with time

Arriving on time, meeting deadlines, and managing tasks effectively are essential habits that reflect discipline and respect for others.

How We Foster Perseverance Across ABQ Schools

Perseverance is nurtured through meaningful learning experiences and supportive routines:

  • Structured expectations that encourage responsibility, punctuality, and consistent effort.
  • Challenging academic work that pushes students to think deeply and stretch beyond their comfort zones.
  • Collaborative projects that teach persistence, teamwork, and shared problem-solving.
  • Regular reflection and feedback, helping students recognise their progress and set new goals for improvement.
  • Celebration of effort and resilience, not just results, reinforcing that hard work leads to growth.

These experiences show students that perseverance is a habit—one that leads to long-term success in school and in life.

A Message to Our Students

  • Keep going, even when it’s tough.
  • Ask for help when you need it, take pride in your effort, and remember that growth happens one step at a time.
  • Be on time. Be committed. Be resilient.
  • Every challenge you overcome makes you stronger and more capable than before.

A Message to Our Families

Thank you for encouraging persistence at home. Your support—through routines, encouragement, and recognition of effort—helps students develop the determination and discipline they need to succeed.

Let us continue building a community where perseverance is celebrated, challenges are embraced, and every learner develops the resilience to achieve their full potential.
