Reimagining Learning: From Lessons to Quests

Date Posted: Thursday 03 July 2025

In an era defined by complexity, change, and global challenges, education must do more than deliver knowledge—it must empower students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and solve real-world problems. At ABQ Education Group, we believe the future belongs to learners who are curious, capable, and courageous. That’s why we are making a bold shift: from traditional content delivery to Problem-Based and Enquiry-Based Learning, through our own tailored approach—the ABQ Methodology.

Achievement-Based Quests—or ABQ—represent a transformation in how we view teaching and learning. Rooted in constructivist theory and closely aligned with global best practices in enquiry and problem-based learning, the ABQ Methodology places students at the centre of meaningful, interdisciplinary learning experiences. Each “quest” is anchored in curriculum objectives and driven by a real-world challenge, encouraging students to apply knowledge, develop 21st-century skills, and reflect deeply on their learning journey.

Unlike traditional projects that often come after the “real” learning is done, ABQ quests are the learning. Students engage with big questions and open-ended problems from the start, building their understanding through investigation, experimentation, and collaboration. Throughout, teachers act as facilitators—guiding, questioning, and supporting students as they navigate their way to meaningful solutions and achievements.

This academic year marks the start of our full implementation of the ABQ Methodology. While elements have already been piloted in various departments, we expect a complete transition across all phases and subjects within five academic years. This timeline ensures careful integration with curriculum requirements while giving space for deep professional development and cultural transformation.

We are not just adopting a new methodology—we are cultivating a new mindset: one that values curiosity over compliance, process over product, and real achievement over rote performance.

By aligning learning with real-world purpose and academic rigour, we believe ABQ’s Achievement-Based Quests will prepare our students not just for exams, but for life.

Because in the end, education should not just answer questions—it should inspire them.
