Job Shadowing for ABQ Grade 11s

ABQ first introduced its market leading Discovering You Program (DYP) in 2019. This mentorship initiative was designed to equip our students with essential 21st-century skills, guide them in setting educational goals and offer invaluable career guidance.

In 2023, we enhanced our career mentoring component for Secondary students by introducing a job shadowing opportunity for all Grade 11 students.

What is job shadowing? It’s an opportunity to observe a professional in their workplace and see what they do on a day-to-day basis.

We are pleased to inform you that two days in October will be designated as job shadowing days for all our Grade 11 students. They will have the chance to select a career they are most passionate about and wish to explore further. They will be asked to discuss their options with you before choosing possible career fields to observe.

We believe that job shadowing experiences offer immense benefits to students by providing them with a practical understanding of their career interests and aspirations. This opportunity empowers them to make well-informed decisions about their future and greatly enhances their overall career readiness.
