ABQ EDUCATION GROUP MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS 2026-27
About the Scholarship
ABQ Education Group (ABQ) is the leading K-12 operator in Oman. Our academic programme is vibrant, cutting-edge, and truly 21st century. ABQ is offering 12 academic scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year at any of our three international schools (ABQ Azzan Bin Qais in MQ, ABQ Seeb and ABQ Sohar).
- Scholarships are available for students in Grades 9 to 12, GED, IGCSE and A Levels.
- Each scholarship is valid for two academic years, except for those given for Grade 12, which are one-year scholarships.
- Scholarships are given as a 100% waiver of the tuition fees only and cannot be claimed in cash.
- Should applicants not meet the minimum eligibility criteria, ABQ reserves the right to transfer the scholarship to a different category or not grant it at all.

- 7 February 2026: Applicants’ CAT4 Assessment at an ABQ International School
- 15 February 2026: Panel Interviews with Shortlisted Candidates (if required)

Eligibility & General Requirements
- Students living and studying in Oman.
- Existing ABQ Group students may apply.
- Excellent academic history.
- A minimum Cognitive Ability Test (CAT4) score of 120 (the test will form part of the application process).
How to Apply
- Visit www.abq.edu.om/scholarship
- Complete the online Scholarship Questionnaire.
- Upload the following:
- A copy of your latest grade report and previous IGCSE or AS results (if applicable).
- A passion essay explaining why you deserve to receive this scholarship (between 300 and 400 words)
- A video of you answering any two of the following questions (2 minutes & 100MB max):
- Describe a meaningful experience you have had at school.
- How would you describe a good school environment?
- Tell us about a time you overcame adversity.
- Where do you see yourself five years from now?
- How do you define failure?
- What book, teacher, or class has changed the way you think? Please explain.
Scholarship Terms and Conditions:
- These conditions apply to the 12 tuition scholarships offered by ABQ Education Group for the 2026/27 academic year.
- 12 Merit scholarships will be granted for the 2026/2027 academic year for students with exceptional academic ability and the tenacity to deliver outstanding results continuously.
- By accepting a scholarship, applicants agree to:
- Meet the specific entry requirements for the course they are applying for.
- Meet the minimum grade requirements for the duration of their chosen course.
- Act as a worthy ambassador for ABQ and the ABQ school the scholar is enrolled at.
- Make themselves available, with reasonable notice, for any publicity and marketing campaigns ABQ wants to run in connection with the Scholarship programme. This may include, but is not limited to: public appearances, speeches, interviews or photographs which can be used in publicity material.
- Scholarships are available for students in Grades 9 to 12.
- In case the candidates do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria, ABQ reserves the right to transfer scholarships to a different category or not grant them at all.
- Each scholarship is valid for two (2) academic years, except for those awarded for Grade 12, which are one-year scholarships only.
- Scholarships are given as a 100% waiver of the tuition fees only and cannot be claimed in cash. Other applicable fees, i.e., books, cafeteria, uniform, exam fees, etc. as applicable, will be payable by the recipients.
- The online application period is from 5-29 January 2026.
- Based on the application, shortlisted candidates will be required to complete an independent assessment (CAT4) on Saturday, 7 February 2026 at 10 am at an ABQ international school. If selected, applicants will be contacted no later than 3 days before the assessment to confirm the necessary arrangements.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
- Based on the assessment results, 25 candidates will be further shortlisted for final consideration and they may be asked to attend a panel interview on 15 February 2026, if required.
- Scholarships are offered to students according to the “order of merit list”, as determined by the panel.
- Successful candidates will be notified on Thursday, 25 February 2026 and will be invited to attend an Awards Ceremony in October 2026.
- In the case of 2-year scholarships, students will have to maintain satisfactory performance at the end of the first year to be eligible for the 2nd year’s scholarship.
- We may immediately remove the scholarship placed on a scholar’s account if:
- The scholar is expelled or suspended from your school; or
- We are of the reasonable opinion that a scholar has made any misrepresentation (whether negligently or intentionally) to us either in respect of applying for the scholarship or during and in connection with their studies at ABQ.
- We will use the personal information provided to us by the scholar to process the enrolment and administer the Scholarship programme. We will retain all documents we receive in connection with the Scholarship programme along with the scholars’ other student records following our Data Protection Policy.
- Any application submitted with incomplete or inaccurate information may be deemed ineligible for the scholarship screening process.
- The scholarship grant is at the sole discretion of ABQ Education Group. The decision of ABQ Education Group in all matters relating to the scholarships and the process followed is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
- ABQ Education Group reserves the right to review and change the scholarship terms offered.
- ABQ Education Group reserves the right to terminate the Scholarship programme at any given time and without prior notice in coming years.
