We believe in teaching our students the skills to succeed in their careers and keep up with the lightning pace of the modern world. The 4C skills are of course: Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication. These skills have always been important for students; however, they are particularly important in our information-based economy.

Collaboration

Collaboration enables individuals to work together to achieve a defined and common goal. Besides developing higher-level thinking skills in students, it also boosts their confidence and self-esteem.

Communication

Well-developed communication skills are vital to a child’s academic success. Through effective communication, students build fluency in the listening and speaking skills needed to achieve both academic and personal success.

Creativity

Creativity opens the mind. It is the ability to see new opportunities, to produce original ideas, to be able to easily adapt to changing situations and to apply one’s imagination to solve complex problems.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking refers to the ability to analyse information objectively and make a reasoned judgement. This form of purposeful thinking is at the core of effective learning.

Information, media, and technology literacy (IMT) are three of the valuable 21st-century skills ABQ students are being equipped with.

Information Literacy

In this video, we will explain one of the three literacy skills, ‘Information Literacy’, and how our students can apply it in their daily lives.

Media Literacy

‘Media literacy’ provides ABQ students with skills that will help them to think critically about media. We want them to be lifelong learners, equipped to analyse what they have learnt about media and transfer it beyond the classroom.

Technology Literacy

‘Technology literacy’ is the last of the three DYP literacy skills. Students with good digital literacy skills have the advantage of sharing ideas efficiently using technology and can knowledgeably filter content.

Flexibility, leadership, initiative, productivity and social (FLIPS) are five of the valuable 21st-century skills ABQ students are being equipped with.

Flexibility

In this video, we will explain one of the five life skills, ‘flexibility’, and how students can apply it in their daily lives.

Leadership

21st Century leadership is the ability to respond to the unique challenges and opportunities of today’s world. Leadership brings forward new ways of being, knowing, and doing, and is an important skill for ABQ students to master.

Initiative

Initiative is the ability to take ownership of our own future and the decision-making skills necessary to reach goals. ABQ students are not only prepared for upcoming exams, but also for life after school.

Productivity

ABQ students learn that productivity is the skill of getting important things done consistently and it involves being able to deliver a specified task in a set period of time, using the available resources.

Social

‘Social’ is the last of the five DYP life skills ABQ students are being equipped with. Social skills are the skills we use to communicate and interact with each other, both verbally and non-verbally, through gestures, body language and our personal appearance.
